Gov’t. information officers in Lanao del Sur meet, identify priorities


MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, April 23 (PIA) --- Information Officers (IOs) of the various municipal governments and national line agencies of this province convened on April 22, at the Provincial Capital for an Orientation on the Role of an Information Officer. 

The meeting was jointly initiated by the Provincial Information Office (PIO) and the Philippine Information Agency-Lanao del Sur (PIA) to refresh the IOs on their various roles and consult them on the needed interventions to further enhance their skills for them to effectively and efficiently communicate the development efforts of their respective offices or agencies.

The refresher lecture on the role of an information officer, given by PIA Regional Director Thelma Oliver, highlighted the meeting.  

“Information officers play a great role in the progress of their municipalities or agencies. They give information in various means and ways,” Oliver reminded the participants.

Sheila D. Ganda, Provincial Governor’s Chief of Staff, relayed the Governor’s enthusiasm and support in forwarding developmental stories and updates within the province.

She urged everyone to continuously brace themselves by attending beneficial workshops and trainings for them to be more effective and efficient in delivering updates and news to the public.

Apipa Bagumbaran, PIA Lanao del Sur Information Manager, encouraged the IOs to regularly give updates regarding the programs, projects and activities of their respective agencies while Provincial Information Officer Salma Jayne A. Tamano, committed its office full support to future activities of the body.

At the end of the meeting, the IOs agreed that they will meet monthly to give updates and improve their skills through the learning sessions that will be conducted every meeting. (Johaniah N. Yusoph/APB/ PIA-10)
