Islamic City of Marawi (08 November) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) here is intensifying its security preparations for the coming special elections on November 13.
Police Superintendent Cosanie Derogongan, PNP provincial director, said they are strengthening their security measures to ensure the smooth conduct of special polls on Saturday.
He said anyone found to be disturbing the conduct of elections will be apprehended emphasizing that the rule of law will be applied at the full extent.
The provincial director further said that additional forces from the Police Regional Office of the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (PRO-ARMM) will augment the provincial security forces.
Although our security forces here are enough to manage the special polls on the eight (8) towns, an augmentation from PRO-ARMM will still be arriving to help us make sure the elections will be orderly and peaceful, he added.
We are well-prepared for the coming special elections and with our security preparations we can assure that we can have credible elections on Saturday, Derogongan stressed.
Based on Comelec Minute Resolution 10-0776 dated August 17, the towns of Buadipuso Buntong, Kapai, Marantao, Calanogas, Ganassi, Lumbatan, Pagayawan and Tugaya will hold special elections for all municipal elective positions on Saturday, November 13.
