MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, Nov. 3 (PIA) --- The
Office of the Attorney General (OAG) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (ARMM) will conduct a three-day free legal counseling to the public on
November 11-13 inside the ARMM compound in Cotabato City.
Lawyer Cheryl Limbing, OAG executive assistant VI,
said the free legal service will be among the highlights of the celebration of
the 25th ARMM anniversary.
She said at least 30 lawyers will provide services
like professional legal advice and guidance claims or actions, contemplated
form of argument, preparation of affidavits and special power of attorney,
legal counseling on women related issues and notarial services for free.
Priority will be granted to clients who cannot
afford the service of a private counsel.
Limbing said they have invited lawyers from other
government offices like the Regional Human Rights Commission, ARMM Civil
Service Commission and the Cotabato City Local Civil Registrar office to
volunteer for the activity.
“Shariah counselors will also be joining us this
time in view of the massive turnout of queries on Shariah law last year,” she
said.
Limbing said this is the fourth year for their
office to provide free legal counselling in partnership with the Integrated Bar
of the Philippines - Cotabato chapter, Public Attorney’s Office-Maguindanao,
Notre Dame University – College of Law, and the Rotary Club of Cotabato City.
The free legal counselling, which carries the theme
“Libreng Lingkod Legal: Serbisyong Publikong Handog ng ORG-ARMM para sa
Makabagong Bangsamoro,” will run from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (Bureau of
