Marawi City placed under state of calamity


The city government of Marawi has approved Resolution No. 60 placing the city under a state of calamity citing the massive damage caused by the current terrorist attacks in the city. 

The declaration authorizes city mayor Majul Gandamra to utilize the local disaster risk reduction and management fund to fast track the relief operations, rehabilitation of damages to properties, and provision of social services to affected constituents. 

The Region 10 and ARMM Regional Command and Coordination Center (RCCC), manned by the Office of Civil Defense, reported that a total of 30,572 families or 141,106 individuals were displaced by the attacks in Marawi as of 2:00pm on June 2, 2017 

According to the RCCC report, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has provided assistance totaling P10,134,722.20 comprising of family food packs (P7,573,762.20) and non-food items (P2,560,960.00). 

Assistance from the city government of Iligan, on the other hand, costs P1 million while the provincial government of Lanao del Norte provided assistance worth P852,442.90. 

The RCCC is still consolidating the cost of assistance from the ARMM Government and DSWD-ARMM. (APB/PIA-10)
