PBA Legends to play in Marawi City on September 2

August 15 --- The PBA Legends based in the Philippines and reinforced by PBA Legends USA Foundation chairman and former pro league superstar Abe King will play a game at the Mindanao State University Dimaporo Gym in Marawi City on September 2.

PBA Legends Foundation secretary general Ruffy Ignacio said the Legends will play against the strong champion team"Achievers" of governor Mamintal "Bombit" Alonto Adiong which includes selected varsity athletes of MSU.

Ignacio told the Daily Inquirer from Washington State that the Legends are "enthusiastic about celebrating with the University its 50th Foundation (Golden) Anniversary. It is also a way for the Legends to spread unity and peace in the region, and to share happiness with brother and sister Muslims with the end of Ramadan, a holiday called Eid ul-Fitr."

The PBA Legends roster will include King, four-time PBA MVP Alvin Patrimonio, MVPs Atoy Co and "Bogs" Adornado, Ronnie Magsanoc, "Bong" Hawkins, "Bobby" Jose, Ed Cordero, seven-footer Edward Joseph Feihl, Nelson "The Bull" Asaytono, Johnedel Cardel and Joey Santamaria.

Santiago said governor Alonto Adiong, an avid sportsman, is sponsoring the trip of the Legends to Marawi. He said "It is the Governor's gesture of support to his Alma Mater MSU for its golden anniversary. Gate proceeds will fund selected academic programs of the University, through the MSU Alumni Association and the PBA Legends USA Foundation."

This is the very first time that the PBA superstars of yesteryears, are playing in Marawi as a team. Reports from Marawi City said basketball fans are excited at the prospect of seeing thier basketball idols in person. (By Ronnie Nathanielsz/PhilBoxing.com)
