MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, June 18 (PIA) --- At least 400 out-of-school youth (OSYs) from six municipalities of Lanao del Sur completed various technical and vocational courses under Australian government-funded Basic Education Assistance for Muslim Mindanao (BEAM-ARMM) Program.
The OSYs coming from the towns of Molundo, Maguing, Ditsaan Ramain, Marantao, Saguiran, and Piagapo received their certificates during the graduation ceremonies held Monday, June 15, at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium, this city.
They completed courses on crops and organic fertilizer production, handicrafts, heavy equipment operation, dressmaking, and small engine servicing, among others.
The training was provided by the Skills Mastery Institute of Cagayan de Oro City while the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in the province assisted through the skills assessment component of the training program.
The BEAM-ARMM Program aims to build the capacities and skills of OSYs in the ARMM through its component on Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
It provides OSYs in the region opportunities to develop their own business enterprise, earn a living and stir economic development in their respective communities. (APB/PIA-10)
