MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, June 7 (PIA) – Free services from
government agencies will be rolled-out in far-flung communities in the province
with the conduct of the second round of People’s Day.
The People’s Day is a program started by the Autonomous Region in
Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) government this year as part of their commitment to
pursue a revitalized and reformed ARMM.
The program was launched in the province on April 29 to help raise
awareness and appreciation on the different programs and services of government
agencies and local governments.
Following its success, the participating government agencies have
agreed during its convergence meeting to hold the next People’s Day at the
municipality of Piagapo.
Services to be offered during the People’s Day will include medical,
dental, legal, counselling, orientation, and distribution of various forms of
assistance, among others.
Piagapo Mayor Ali Sumandar expressed appreciation to the
participating agencies for choosing his municipality as the pilot area for the
community-based People’s Day.
He said his constituents can finally see that the government is
working.
According to him, his town is one of the poorest municipalities in
the country deprived of improvements and support.
He said the free services and programs that will be offered by the
participating agencies can help his constituents and improve their community.
It will also give us an opportunity to be at par with the other
municipalities, he added.
The People’s Day will be conducted on Wednesday, June 10, in
partnership with the ARMM regional government. (APB/PIA-10)
