To enhance and reorient the city and
municipal treasurers, accountants and budget officers of the local government
units of Marawi City and the 39 municipalities of Lanao del Sur on the laws, rules
and regulations on government transactions for local government units, the
provincial government of Lanao del Sur held a whole-day program entitled,
"Briefing and Updating on Financial Transaction Requirements for Local
Government Units" on December 15, 2016, at the Social Hall, Provincial
Capitol Complex.
More than 200 participants were present
and they were composed of city and municipal accountants, budget officers,
treasurers, engineers, and heads of offices of the Provincial Capitol.
The participants were welcomed by
Provincial Treasurer Tadjudin Batua-an.
Vice Governor Mamintal Bombit Alonto
Adiong, Jr. said in his keynote message that the activity is in support of the
directive of President Rodrigo Duterte to practice government transparency and
fight graft and corruption.
He said the event was also in line with
the goal of Governor Soraya Alonto Adiong to continuously practice good
governance and transparency in public service.
He added that the program would help
enlighten the finance teams of city and municipal LGUs on proper budget
management and disbursement.
Meanwhile, Mayor Ali Sumandar of the
municipality of Piagapo and vice president of the League of Municipalities
Lanao del Sur Chapter, reminded the participants to be vigilant in performing
their respective duties.
The program was an offshoot of the 3rd
ARMM LGU Summit held in Davao City last November 30-December 1, 2016 which was
led by the Department of Interior and Local Government and graced by President
