The provincial government of Lanao del Sur has joined forces with the Raheemah Peace Weavers Producer Cooperative and Save the Children Philippines in pursuit of cultivating the culture and tradition of Maranaos through the Meranaw Academy Program.
The Meranaw Academy Program, initially developed by the Raheemah Economic Hub and Development Center alongside Save the Children Philippines, is a capacity development effort that incorporates a series of learning modules called "Paninggalan: Pezinanadan ko basa, adat, taritib ago igma o Bangsa Meranaw" to further nurture the Meranaw cultural heritage.
Raheemah Peace Weavers Producer Cooperative Chairperson Sittie Aishah Baicon Cayongcat Nuska expounded that this program particularly embraces the promotion of the Maranao language, including the proper way of speaking it with wisdom.
As the government came in to pour its full support, the author non-government organizations were optimistic that their goal would surely materialize.
"Aming iniwe-welcome ang pagpupursigi ng ating gobyerno sa pagpreserve and preaching ng ating language at manner sa ating lugar," said Nuska.

Eager to complement the government’s showcased perseverance, Save the Children Philippines, on the other hand, reiterated its dedication to keeping its tie with its existing partners, knowing that this could bring advantages to women and children in the community.
"Save the Children will continue to work with the province of Lanao del Sur, and we are committed to partner and continue to foster partnership, especially working with women and youth in the province," said Save the Children Philippines Iligan City Head of Office Mykiel Patcho.
In June this year, the Raheemah Peace Weavers Producer Cooperative and Save the Children Philippines, in close collaboration with the provincial government of Lanao del Sur through its Provincial Tourism Office, trained the pilot batch of beneficiaries of the Meranaw Academy Program.
