Seeing the potential development offered by the agriculture sector, the provincial government of Lanao del Sur has re-echoed its promise to supplement its aid, especially for farmers.
As part of this vow, the province, through its Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), led the second livestock and poultry congress, which aimed to impart additional knowledge to concerned constituents about the cultivation and proper raising of livestock and poultry animals.
Being part of the lined-up activities to celebrate the 64th Araw ng Lanao del Sur for the whole month of July, the convention was attended by 640 raisers from 39 municipalities of the province and Marawi City, as well as different private companies and government agencies, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) and the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC).
PVO Head Al-Hussein Domaot recalled that the first time the same event was conducted was last year, wherein, upon their assessment, they found out that they had successfully encouraged constituents to venture into agriculture and livestock raising.
As such, he said they would be rewarding those who were encouraged, while some success stories of those who have already been part of the industry would be featured.
With this reflection, Domaot reflected that the holding of the congress has immensely had a positive impact, as they were able to figure out that numerous farms exist in the province while testing how they could support these agricultural land areas.
Following this, he stated that they have become more determined to multiply the logged number and encourage more people to embark on this sector as they could also benefit from it.
"Makita sana ng mga farmers natin na kumbaga, iyon nga iyong theme natin na "Alaga ko, pag-asa ko." Dahil sa mga alaga nila may nagegain naman sila. Nakakacontribute rin sila sa ating food security," said Domaot.
(Hopefully, the farmers will see that our theme is "My animals, my hope." Because of their animals, they can gain something. They can also contribute to our food security)
The PVO Head further shared that so far, they have not regretted pushing endeavors for the agriculture sector here, considering that whatever requests they would relay to the venturers were immediately addressed.
He was happy that the industry members knew that they were one of the top priorities of the government.
Domaot stressed that instead of repentance, they were even delighted over the effect of their efforts as the number of livelihoods linked with agriculture has spiked.
He committed that his office would continuously support the agricultural sector by intensifying and doubling efforts to provide more appropriate services.
Domaot also guaranteed that they would reach out to all municipalities in this province.
"Nandito kami always, ang opisina namin. Kapag may mga kailangan kayo o gustong ikonsulta ay always kami available," he said.
(We, our office, are always here. If you have needs or want to consult something, we are always available). (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
