MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, Feb. 29 (PIA) -- Representatives of the various sectors in the municipality of Ganassi has signed a joint memorandum of agreement to support the municipal government in the preservation and maintenance of peace and order to fast-track development in the said town.
The unanimous accord was signed by the all concerned stakeholders at the end of the one-day multi-sectoral peace forum held at the Ganassi municipal gymnasium on Feb. 26, 2012.
The said peace forum was organized by the Ganassi municipal government through the able leadership of Mayor Al-Rashid Macapodi in collaboration with the 51st Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army.
One of the agreements adopted by the multi-stakeholders was the establishment of the Joint Internal Security Task Force that will conduct patrol in crime-prone areas as well as strictly implement total gun ban in the municipality.
They also called on the police and military unit assigned in the area to orchestrate the conduct of intensified operation against all forms of serious criminal activities such as illegal drugs, illegal logging, and illegal fishing.
The multi-sectoral participants further appealed for active prosecutions of any violations of the law and other ordinances.
They also noted that family feud (rido) must not be a hindrance in the mediation and pacification campaign; hence, they support the resolution of family feud as a means of attaining peace.
Lastly, the participants agreed that cleanliness also contributes to a more progressive town, thus, it must be maintained and a solid waste management plan should be adopted and supported. (APB-PIA 10)
