MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, Jan. 23 (PIA) ---Fifty madaris
(Islamic schools) are set to benefit from the educational financial assistance
that will be provided under the Sajahatra Bangsamoro program.
Each of the madrasah-beneficiary will receive P250,000
assistance to be used for school improvement projects and activities, said Dr.
Bashary Abdul Latiph of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Task Force
Sajahatra during PIA’s Ozor ka, Ranao! radio program aired over DxSO Radyo ng
Bayan Marawi FM Tuesday.
He said they will first roll out an initial amount of
P125,000 and the remaining balance will be released after they have assessed
that the initial funding was properly implemented by the beneficiaries.
“So far, there was no release of funds yet because we are
waiting for the identified madaris to complete the requirements including
opening an account with the Landbank,” he added.
He said there was a delay in the releasing of assistance
because of the policy of the bank that requires an opening deposit of P10,000
which was burden to the madaris.
But Landbank has already granted the request of Cabinet
Secretary Jose Rene Almendras to waive the P10,000 opening account deposit for
the madaris, he further said.
Latiph thus called on the 13 madaris-beneficiaries in the
Ranao region to visit Landbank Marawi and bring with them two IDs and
resolution of the madaris board giving them authority to open a bank account
for the madaris.
The so-called Ranao region comprised of MILF communities in
the two Lanao provinces.
Implemented jointly by the government and the MILF, Sajahatra
Bangsamoro is a concrete peace initiative and assistance for MILF communities
that focuses on the provision of health, education and livelihood services.
