Hundreds of job seekers flock to ARMM’s employment fair

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, Jan. 22 (PIA) – Hundreds of job seekers in the province joined the employment fair of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) in the hope of finding jobs that could sustain them.

The registration and preliminary assessment process for Lanao del Sur applicants was conducted by the region’s Personnel Selection and Promotion Board (PSPB) at the Provincial Capitol Gymnasium Monday, January 20.

ARMM Cabinet Secretary Norkhalila Mae B. Mambuay-Campong said the process was intended to provide a venue to inform the public on the available government positions and that these are open for competition.

“Gusto po nating ipakita sa lahat na posible magkaroon ng screening sa probinsiya, kung saan makikita ng mga aplikante na ang lahat ng bakanteng positions pati item numbers ay napublish at hindi tinatago” (We would like to show that provincial screening is possible, where applicants can see that all vacant positions as well as item numbers were published and not hidden from the public), she said.

Based on ARMM-PSPB report, only 472 of the 960 applicants to various positions in Lanao del Sur, who were assessed and evaluated, qualified for the second phase of the screening process or the computerized examination.

The computerized examination which is on first come, first serve basis started yesterday, January 21, and will end on January 27.

Campong said applicants who cannot get a rating of at least 50 percent in the examination shall no longer qualify for the third phase or the interview.

For positions with salary grade (SG 1-6), applicants will no longer undergo the regular screening. Instead, their papers were received by the agencies concerned and will be forwarded to the regional office for assessment by the regional PSPB.

Meantime, similar registration and pre-assessment will also be conducted in the other provinces in ARMM.

Campong said the screening process for vacant positions in Basilan will be held on February 3-6, February 7-13 in Tawi-Tawi, February 14-21 in Sulu, March 3-6 in Maguindanao, and March 10-12 at the ARMM Regional Office.
