The Sambatan Law Clinic of the Mindanao State University (MSU) College of Law set up a free legal clinic in line with the observance of Mindanao Week of Peace 2022.
Assistant Dean of Clinical Legal Education and Supervising Lawyer Joanah Alinog Disocor said giving free legal services to the public is their way of celebrating Mindanao Week of Peace.
She said this is also pursuant to Revised Rule 138-A of the Supreme Court allowing law students to engage in limited practice of law such as the preparation of simple affidavits and deeds.
While the student practitioners will be the ones entertaining the clients, Disocor said they also invited one lawyer to do the notarial services.
The free legal consultation and notarial services are some of the activities lined up by MSU main campus for the Mindanao Week of Peace celebration. Other activities are tree-planting, Youth Peace Day, workshop on preventing and countering violent extremism, blood-letting, display of Agricultural, Ceramics and FabLab products, seminar on peace and development, and Peace Bazaar.
The celebration is pursuant to Proclamation Order No. 127 issued by former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declaring the last Thursday of November up to the first Wednesday of December every year as Mindanao Week of Peace. (APB/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
