MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The international non-government organization (INGO) World Vision Philippines is pursuing its goal of leading its target communities to sustainable growth and progress to obtain more opportunities for their respective lives.
As part of this effort, the organization in partnership with the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education - Technical Education and Skills Development (MBHTE-TESD) and Provincial/City Manpower Development Center (PCMDC) initiated technical and vocational education training for some 25 out-of-school youths (OSYs) in the city.
This is under the Urban Child Protection and Participation Project (UCPPP) Year 1 wherein target beneficiaries were inspired to undergo a 15-day Tile Setting NCII training course and later on, received their respective start-up kits.
The 25 OSY-beneficiaries were drawn from the organization's covered areas, five OSY each coming from Barangays Cadayonan 1 & 2, Tuca Ambolong, Malimono and Rapasun, with the selection based on their willingness and those who were deemed to have less chance of obtaining the offered skill.
World Vision Philippines Project Manager for Marawi and Cotabato Adonis Casinillo underscored that this undertaking would enable and capacitate the beneficiaries to gain additional fortunes as they would utilize their full ability and venture into economic engagements.
“Kung kayo ay magkakaroon ng mas maraming opportunity na magkaincome o makagather ng more economic activities, mas masusuportahan ninyo ang mga sarili niyo, inyong family at community, and even this country,” he told the OSY-beneficiaries.
[If you will have more opportunities to have income or gather more economic activities, you can support yourselves, your family and community, and even this country.]
Casinillo shared that they chose to offer the Tile Setting NCII skills training seeing the market demand.

He detailed that they consulted their beneficiaries and accordingly, such a training course would be the most significant especially in the ongoing recovery and rehabilitation of the city here.
Casinillo further conveyed that this was only a simple support but he hoped that this one would turn into bigger opportunities for all of their beneficiaries.
He bared that they are currently searching and exploring new opportunities for them to expand their coverage and extend their programs to other communities so that in the second year of the UCPPP, another batch would be catered to by their program offering technical and vocational education training.
Looking forward to more interventions, Casinillo heartened their beneficiaries to continue supporting the program of all organizations reaching out to them as they are doing their mandate to support their lives.
“Kung ano ang maitulong namin sa abot ng aming makakaya [Whatever we can help as much as we can], we hope that our communities covered are also participative sa programs kasi [because] at the end of the day, para sa kanilang lahat naman ito [these are all for them],” he said.
