Nearly 1K villagers in LDS enjoy gov’t outreach program

Almost 1,000 locals in two remote villages in Lanao del Sur province have benefited from the grand pulong-pulong (meeting) and community outreach program spearheaded by the municipal government of Piagapo in partnership with the 103rd Infantry Brigade, 51st Infantry Battalion, Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) and Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS).

The said activity reached Barangays Taporug and Talao, all in Piagapo town, to pour in different government services such as the distribution of relief goods and school supplies, free haircuts, medical check-ups, and circumcision, among others.

Taporug Resident Sania Macadaag Aba was delighted that her barangay was visited by the government.

For her, this showed that they were still remembered despite the odds of linking with them.

Aba shared that their primary concern was an access road connecting their place and the town proper, thus, her wish for this to be granted.

She, nonetheless, assured to support whatever efforts would be implemented by the local government unit (LGU).

“Nalipay mi nga wala nakalimot ug nakaabot ang gobyerno bisan lisod ang among dalan… Magsaad mi nga mutabang mi sa proyekto sa gobyerno,” said Aba.

(We are happy that the government did not forget and reach us even though it is difficult to travel along our road. We promise to help the government in its project.)

Saima Panganting, who is also a resident of Brgy. Taporug in Piagapo town, conveyed her gratitude as well to the host LGU and line agencies for bringing in various services, which they truly enjoyed.

She affirmed that traversing to their place is a struggle, hence, their great appreciation for the efforts extended to them.

“Magpasalamat mi kay niabot ang gobyerno sa among barangay para sa among kaayuhan. Ang among dalan diri lisod. Kung mag-ulan, dili makaagi ang mga sakyanan. Mga kabayo ra ug baka ang makaagi sa dalan. Ang pagbisita sa gobyerno diri sa amo kay dako og tabang,” said Panganting.

(We are thankful that the government reached our barangay for our sake. Our road here is not good. Every time it rains, cars cannot pass by. Only horses and cows can pass by our road. The visit of the government here is really a big help.) (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
