Lanao Sur leads promotional video dev’t to advance tourism

Further strengthening the aim of boosting the tourism industry, the Lanao del Sur Provincial Tourism, Culture and Arts Office (PTCAO) piloted the development of videos promoting the bounty and glory of the province.

With this, the PTCAO spearheaded a three-day workshop wherein at least 28 participants were taught how to conceptualize and come up with effective material featuring the enticing tourist sites and rich culture in localities within the jurisdiction.

PTCAO Tourism Operation Officer Yusoph Saaban shared that this recent training was part of the promotional project they have been pushing to set a standard image for the province here and its locals, especially since non-residents have misconceptions about the place due to the history of conflict.

He stated that they first launched in June this year the call for applications for those who wanted to engage in their pursuit of bolstering the tourism industry.

Saaban noted that out of more than 100 applicants, they only selected those who had the most relevant response to their invitation.

He explained that the conceptualization of storylines is only the first phase of their promotional project, with the next phase expected to be the scrutinization of the presented story to see if involved locations, props, and talents are appropriate, while the final stage would be the actual shooting.

Saaban was happy that their initial step was productive as they were not expecting that three short storylines would be developed given the time constraint, and not all were in the tourism industry.

He underscored that the storylines were interesting, highlighting the presentation, transitions and framing incorporated.

Saaban expressed his excitement on how the actual shooting would turn out, and eventually contribute to the clearing of the derogative perspective about the province here and its people.

“We look forward na mamataerialize ito at ma-hit ang aming target na maging sa isa destinations ng tourists ang Lanao del Sur (that this would be materialized, we hit our target which is to make Lanao del Sur one of the tourist destinations),” he said.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Mark Kim Tayona, who became the resource speaker of the workshop, was also glad to see how the participants were engaged, especially the youth. because there were accordingly astounding talents he witnessed.

He affirmed that this could indeed pave the way for the renewal of a positive picture of the province.

“We could see the active energy of the participants, that they were really up to sharing the richness of the province, and to open the province for tourism to also help change the negative notion about the history of the province,” said Tayona. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
