Lanao Sur governor warns against fake news amid MSU blast probe

Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. strongly urged the public to refrain from spreading disinformation while the investigation is ongoing regarding the explosion at Dimaporo Gymnasium in Mindanao State University (MSU)-Main Campus early on December 3 this year.

He stressed the importance of every person relying on the upcoming report from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

“Sa ngayon, huwag muna tayong magsabi kung sino ang gumawa niyan o kung bakit nangyari ito. Antayin muna natin ang kalalabasan ng imbestigasyon ng PNP at AFP. (In the meantime, let's not talk on who perpetrated this or why it occurred. Let's await the investigation results from the PNP and AFP),” Adiong said in an exclusive PIA interview.

After the tragedy that killed four individuals and injured 45 civilians, the governor has visibly focused on addressing the aftermath of the incident.

The governor said he rushed to Amai Pakpak Medical Center (APMC) to assist the victims.

During this challenging time, Adiong was even moregrateful for the doctors and frontline responders who directly attended to their patients.

He said that the hospital personnel were not enough as others were attending to their respective social obligations.

However, with the collective efforts of everyone, Adiong noted that the situation has been manageable.

"We know that today is Sunday, but the doctors reported to address our problems now. We do not have enough doctors now because others have seminars and are on vacation. The situation now is already under our control,” he said.

Adiong mentioned transferring patients with minor cases to the MSU infirmary and discharging others to prevent exhaustion among hospital personnel and preserve its capacity. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
