LTO-BARMM amnesty benefits 244 motorists with expired registration

A total of 244 individuals from various districts across the Bangsamoro region have taken advantage of the two-day moratorium on penalties for late renewal of vehicle registration, spearheaded by the Bangsamoro Land Transportation Office (BLTO) on January 23-24, 2024.

Of this total, 177 availed of the amnesty for motorcycle registration renewal, while 67 seized the opportunity for four-wheel registration renewal.

The amnesty initiative, allowing owners of expired vehicles to register without incurring penalties, was among the various services offered by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) during the weeklong celebration of the 5th Bangsamoro Foundation Day anniversary.

"Naglaan kami ng services para kahit papaano ay makabenefit ang Bangsamoro people. As we know, itong celebration natin ay product ng paghihirap ng Bangsamoro for many decades. This is the time to give back sa Bangsamoro people through the services na pwede nating i-alok," said Engr. Razul Gayak, deputy commissioner of MOTC-BARMM.

Aside from the amnesty on late motor vehicle registration, the Bangsamoro Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (BLTFRB) also rolled out a one-day "Libreng Sakay" program, providing free transportation from specific points of origin to designated destinations, catering to 1,532 commuters.

In Lanao del Sur, the routes covered transportation from Mindanao State University (MSU) Marawi Campus to the Downtown area and vice versa, as well as from Barangay Datu sa Dansalan to the Downtown area and vice versa, benefiting 159 commuters. (APB/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
