Notorious fugitive in Lanao Sur dies in encounter with police


Islamic City of Marawi (6 September) -- A most wanted person in Lanao del Sur was killed in an encounter with joint police troops Sunday afternoon at barangay Lumbac in Pualas town.
Police Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan, Police Provincial Director, identified the killed fugitive as Khalid Saripada Pansar.
Pansar has a standing warrant of arrest for murder issued by Atty. Amina Mimbala of RTC, 12th Judicial Region, Branch 10 in Marawi City, he said.
The Police Provincial Director further said the killed fugitive was engaged in a series of highway robbery hold-ups and was also allegedly involved in the burning of a Rural Transit bus in Kapatagan town of Lanao del Norte as well as the recent abduction of the local trader Abdulcarim Magarang.
According to him a certain Ustadj Andalawan Hadji Salic, 25 years old, farmer and resident of barangay Bantayan in Pualas was shot to death without any alteration by Pansar and his group using M16 rifle on his way home.
The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body that caused his instantaneous death, Derogongan said.
He said police elements who were conducting mobile patrol and intelligence monitoring as to the whereabouts of the abducted local trader immediately responded and engaged in a firefight that ensued for almost an hour.
The firefight resulted to the death of Pansar, who also suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body, added Derogongan.
