Islamic City of Marawi (1 September) -- The Lanao del Sur Provincial Police launched pursuit operations to track down the abductors of Abdulcarim Magarang.
Magarang, a 42-year old businessman, was abducted yesterday morning, along Ampuan Street in barangay Lilod Madaya, this city.
Police Provincial Director Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan said Magarang was riding a pedicab driven by Amiladen Comilao on his way to the ‘padian’ (market) when five (5) unidentified armed men seized him.
He said Magarang was forcibly taken by the abductors to a white Honda Civic with no license plate number.
According to him, the Honda Civic fled toward an unknown destination.
Derogongan said the victim was able to call his wife yesterday afternoon, using his own cellphone, saying he was alright and then the line was cut-off.
We are now investigating the motive behind the abduction and the possible whereabouts of the victim, he added.
The police director however said the motive could be a simple kidnap-for-ransom.
Magarang is known to be one of the eight big businessmen in the city.
