MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, May 14 (PIA) --- The provincial government is planning to hold another People’s Day following the success of the first one conducted last month.
“Although there were minor flaws which we can learn from, the first People’s Day was a huge success,” said Amenodin T. Cali ARMM Assistant Secretary and Lanao del Sur Focal Person for Convergence.
He said that as a first attempt for the province, and considering that it was organized in a very short span of time, the activity was considered a success.
With the outcome, the Provincial Government will continuously give free services to the public every month bringing government services closer to the people.
“This is a way of doing transparency and accountability and making government employees very visible in communities,” said Cali.
People’s Day also supports the commitment of the Office of the Regional Governor in bringing reform to the entire region and to encourage public involvement and awareness of the government programs and services.
The first People’s Day in Lanao del Sur was conducted on April 29, 2015 at the Provincial Capitol Gym.
Services offered to the public for free included medical, legal, counseling, display of programs and products, and job fair.
Twenty four (24) government offices participated in the first People’s Day.
The Department of Health – Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) topped in serving the public with free medical and dental services to a more than two thousand people.
Meantime, the second People’s Day is tentatively scheduled on June 4 at Provincial Capitol. The succeeding People’s Day will be more community-based and will be held in far-flung communities. (Johaniah N. Yusoph/APB/PIA-10)
