MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, May 13 (PIA) --- The Provincial Census Coordinating Board (PCCB) convened on May 12 to discuss preparations for the forthcoming 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN).
Held at the Provincial Capitol Executive Conference Room, the meeting was presided by its chairperson Provincial Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. with the assistance of PCCB Executive Officer and Interim Provincial Statistics Officer Mohammadali Alonto.
The meeting focused on the support that will be extended by the PCCB to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) to ensure the successful conduct of the census.
The support included provision of transportation and communications facilities during the census operations, provision of training venues, census personnel headquarters and temporary lodging, storage room of census materials and supplies, publicity and information campaign, and security assistance to ensure complete coverage in the province.
The 2015 POPCEN is the 14th census of population to be undertaken in the country since 1903.
Alonto said it is a complete enumeration of households in the country designed to take an inventory of the population of the entire Philippines. It collects information on some characteristics of the population such as age, sex, marital status, and highest grade completed.
The listing and enumeration for the POPCEN 2015 will last for 25 working days, including Saturdays and holidays, from August 1 to 31, 2015. (APB/PIA-10
