MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, May 13 (PIA) --- The Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) plans to ban the travel of vehicles with dark tinted windows within the province to help reduce crime incidents.
Provincial Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. has asked all local chief executives in the province during the PPOC meeting to come-up with a municipal resolution to prohibit the travel of vehicles with tinted windows and without plate number in their respective municipalities.
He said municipal resolutions must be received by the Office of the Provincial Governor by June 15 to serve as a basis of the provincial government to come-up with a provincial resolution.
Adiong said the provincial resolution will be distributed to all local government units, government offices, non-government organization, civil society organizations, and members of the media for dissemination.
The Land Transportation Office in the province, he added, will also be tapped for the dissemination and enforcement of the new policy.
Adiong convened on May 22 the PPOC to discuss pressing issues and concerns on peace and order in light of the recent shooting incidents in some parts of the province.
Though both the police and army reported that peace and order situation in the province is generally stable, both security forces noted occurrence of shooting incidents and kidnapping.
Other agreements during the PPOC meeting include strengthening of barangay tanods to address and resolve security concerns at the barangay level so that it will not escalate to the municipal and provincial level and the placing of tarpaulin and other IEC materials in conspicuous places bearing the hotlines of the PNP and AFP.
