MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)–Amidst the pouring rain, Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) Chairperson Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario inspected Thursday, September 16, the ongoing construction of permanent shelters in Barangay Patani, one of the permanent shelter sites in the city.
A total of 438 permanent houses are set to be constructed in this 9.9-hectare land through the funding support of the Japan government. UN-Habitat spearheads the construction of the shelters while the Social Housing and Finance Corporation took charge of the land acquisition and development.
To date, 17 permanent houses have been completed while the construction of 85 units is ongoing.
The inspection is part of his monthly monitoring to ensure that the progress of the government-led rehabilitation is on track.
Upon his arrival on Wednesday, the TFBM chief conducted a regular briefing with representatives of TFBM implementing agencies to discuss the latest status and updates of their respective projects in Marawi.
Highlighting his September visit to the City was the inauguration of four newly-constructed barangay complexes equipped with a health center and two-classroom Madrasah, as well as, two newly-repaired mosques, all situated in the most affected area of the war-torn city.
Del Rosario assured that the TFBM will continue its efforts to ensure that the rehabilitation will be completed within the term of President Duterte and that Marawi will rise as a prosperous city again.
“For all the public infrastructure na ginagawa natin, we are 75%-80% complete and all the rest will be completed by next year. By December, we can say that 60%-70% of all the projects na pinapagawan natin at gagawin ay matatapos within the year while the rest 30-40% will be completed by next year,” he said.
