MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Mayor Elvino "Bino" Balicao Jr. of Wao is grateful to the Bangsamoro government for its prompt action in sending aid to the municipality in view of the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to almost all the villages of Wao.
"Noong sinabi namin na kailangan namin ng suporta dahil nakagranular lockdown kami, within one week dumating na yung ayuda ng regional government through the province at DSWD," he said in an episode of Network Briefing News.
[When we said that we needed support because we had granular lockdowns, within one week the help of the regional government through the province and DSWD arrived.]
Over the weekend, the Rapid Emergency Action for Disaster Incidence-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (READi-BARMM) sent 10,000 food packs and personal protective equipment upon the request of the mayor due to the implementation of granular lockdowns as a result of the surge of Covid-19 cases in the municipality.
"Madali lang, hindi tulad noong nagsisimula pa lang yung BARMM. Ngayon mabilis na silang rumesponde sa mga pangangailangan ng mga munisipyo natin," Balicao further said.
[It's easy, not like when BARMM was just starting. Now they are quick to respond to the needs of our municipalities.]
The mayor hopes that the support they are getting from the BARMM government, as well as the national and provincial government, will continue amid the pandemic. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
