TFBM, LGU Marawi open 4 new brgy complexes in Marawi’s ground zero

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)–Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) and the Local Government of Marawi officially opened on Thursday, September 16, four newly-built barangay complexes located in the ground zero of the war-torn city.

TFBM Chairperson Secretary Eduardo del Rosario and City Major Majul Gandamra spearheaded the inauguration ceremony for the barangay complexes of Datu Naga, Datu sa Dansalan, Moncado Kadingilan, and West Marinaut.

Each of the barangay complexes houses a health center and Madrasah.

Del Rosario said the 3-in-1 barangay complexes symbolize authority and leadership that would translate into the exercise of good governance.

“This is a symbol of not only of an organization but also of good governance that barangay leaders will do once they have these barangay complexes. This is a symbol that we are moving forward,” he said.

He further said the complex represents unity among the residents of the respective barangays and the city government.

Gandamra, on the other hand, said he is glad that little by little they are seeing complete and tangible development in the city.

“Tayo ay nagpapasalamat dahil nakikita natin na unti-unting bumabangon ang ating lugar. Itong mga imprastraktura are very important to our constituents, especially that barangay officials are mandated to provide services to their constituents. Dito magsisimula ang pagbibigay serbisyo nila sa kanilang constituents,” he said.

(We are happy that we can now see our place slowly rising. The infrastructures are very important to our constituents, especially that the barangay officials are mandated to provide services to their constituents. This is where they will start serving their constituents.)

TFBM Chairperson Secretary Eduardo del Rosario, Brgy. Chair Nawaz Lucman, City Major Majul Gandamra, and Vice Governor Mujan Rakiin-Adiong lead the inauguration ceremony for the newly-built Moncado Kadingilan Barangay Complex.

In May this year, TFBM also inaugurated the Barangay Kilala Barangay Complex – the first completed barangay complex in the most affected area of the city.

The construction of these barangay facilities is implemented by LGU Marawi under the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management – Marawi Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Program.

Barangay officials are thankful to TFBM and the city government for the barangay complex package awarded to their respective villages.

Norolyn Bongaros, Datu sa Dansalan village chief, said the barangay complex would give them not only stability in providing services to their constituents but also unity and belongingness amid being displaced due to the 2017 siege.

“I am very grateful as this gives us hope that we have a home to come back to after the siege,” she said.

Barangay Chair Khaliq Gandamra Jr. of Datu Naga also conveyed his gratitude to both the national government and the local government of Marawi.

“This is of great importance to us as this also facilitates the work of barangay officials in their delivery of services to residents. It will also serve as a community center where we can assemble and gather,” he said.

To date, five barangay complexes in the city’s ground zero have been completed. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
