Islamic City of Marawi (05 July) --- Secretary Jesus Dureza, head of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), urged the elected officials in Lanao del Sur to set aside political differences and work together for the good of the province.
Dureza made the call during the mass oath-taking of elected officials and the 51st Araw ng Lanao del Sur celebration.
“Let us forget the political boundaries and affiliations that broke us apart, let us unite and move forward under the new administration”, Dureza stressed.
The MinDA chief also challenged the elected officials to take the lead for good governance and peace and development of the province.
He also appealed to the new local leaders to pursue sustainable development programs such as the preservation of Lake Lanao.
He said Lake Lanao is the fountainhead of Mindanao development because the source of hydropower comes from the Lake.
“The Lake is so diverse in marine life, there’s so much we can do here so make it a priority to conduct preservation activities within Lake Lanao because it is the future of not only Mindanao but of the whole country”, he stressed.
Dureza also reminded them to value the new mandate given to them by their constituents by serving them well.
The mass oath-taking ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol Gym this city was officiated by Judge Wenida Papandayan.
