Islamic City of Marawi (1 July) --- Lt.Gen. Ben Dolorfino, chief of the Western Mindanao Command (WESMINCOM) revealed that he plans to recommend to the President the formation of a multi-agency law enforcement task force.
In a media briefing today at the 103rd Infantry Brigade, the WESMINCOM chief said that there is a need for a convergence of efforts of law enforcement agencies because Lanao del Sur and some parts of Lanao del Norte are almost at the level of runway lawlessness.
"Tomorrow, we will have our first command conference with the President and I hope I will have the opportunity to brief the national leadership about the situation here," Dolorfino further said.
"One of the drastic actions that I would like to propose is the creation of a multi-agency law enforcement task force so that the rule of law will prevail in the affected provinces," he stressed.
Dolorfino also disclosed that he has a standing order to all the brigades under his command to create a Joint Legal Offensive Field Office (JLOFO).
"Because legal actions are always a part of our internal security operations, my standing order to the brigades is to create a JLOFO," he said.
The WESMINCOM chief further said that they will also strengthen their information operations through the media so that the public is well-informed on what the government is doing in ensuring that the rule of law always prevails.
On the other hand, Dolorfino gave assurance that they are doing everything to resolve the abduction of Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Commissioner Elias Yusoph' son.
We have talked with the Yusoph family and we have received very important information that will help us in solving the case, he disclosed.
The WESMINCOM chief also said that they have approached the mechanism under the GRP-MILF peace process to help in resolving the kidnapping incident.
"We hope that with the efforts being exerted by the 103rd Infantry Brigade, we will have positive results very soon, more so that the mechanism under the GRP-MILF process is working with us," Dolorfino said.
