Islamic City of Marawi (05 July) --- Various media practitioners from the different media entities here recently gathered in a media forum on peace and development.
The forum hoped to increase the awareness of the local media practitioners on the current peace and order issues that affected the social, economic, and political stability of this city.
It also promoted the roles and responsibilities of media in attaining peace and development.
According to Prof. Salipada Tamano, the media is the missing link because it acts as bridge between the government and the people which serves as an active partner in disseminating information pertaining to vital issues of public interest.
The half-day forum was spearheaded by Provincial Information Officer Nasser Ganda, Marawi Islamic Cable Television Manager Sultan Abdulrauf Pamaloy and Renato Bashir Ilupa of DXSO Radyo ng Bayan Marawi.
It was graced by Governor Mamintal Adiong Jr., Provincial Police Director Senior Superintendent Paniares Adap, City Police Director Chief Inspector Mary Grace Madayag, and representatives from the academe, business community, traditional leaders as well as socio-civic and religious groups.
Ensuring a peaceful and orderly environment lies not only in the hands of the government authorities but it also needs the involvement and participation of all sectors in the community, the organizers said.
