Lanao Sur gov bares agenda for the next three years

Islamic City of Marawi (06 July) --- Re-elected Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal ‘Bombit’ A. Adiong Jr. presented the seven aspects of governance which his administration will vigorously pursue to alleviate the living conditions of his constituents.

In a well-attended mass-oath taking last Sunday, July 4, at the provincial capitol gym, this city, the governor in his inaugural speech humbly cited his major accomplishments in the last three years in terms of infrastructure, agricultural, environmental, health services, social and youth development, among others.

He promised to continue delivering such services to uplift the lives of the locals.

“We will not stop with the forty-two (42) multi-purpose buildings, six (6) health centers, six (6) school buildings and 23.9 kilometers of concrete roads in the two districts of this province for we intend to finish another 30 kilometers in road concreting and more infrastructures by 2013,” Adiong said.

The Governor further said that he looks forward to more strengthen barangays with the construction of approximately 1,000 barangays roads of which 590 were already completed.

“In the next three years, I would like also to emphasize my programs on agriculture”, he added.

The Chief Executive reported that through the funding from the National Irrigation Authority, the irrigation system in Masiu town was rehabilitated while new ones were installed at the Malaig River covering the towns of Butig, Sultan Dumalondong and Lumbatan, at the Kamanga River covering the towns of Ditsaan-Ramain, Bubong and Buadipuso Buntong as well as at the Rugnan River covering the towns of Lumba Bayabao and Taraka extending to the Basak areas.

He added that he also planned to expand the irrigation system in Maguing town.

“We will likewise be expecting more competent farmers now especially with our upcoming projects including the plantation of two (2) million fruit trees seedling within two (2) years in partnership with the World Food Programme as well as the creation of model farms in the towns of Ditsaan-Ramain, Bubong and Buadipuso Buntong which may be replicated in other municipalities”, Adiong disclosed.

Governor Adiong further said that he will further enhance the fisheries, poultry and livestock, vegetables and corn production as well as revive the coconut industry in the province.

Since environment protection is one of the pressing issues of today, Governor Adiong will likewise continuously support programs which will preserve Lake Lanao and its environ.

The Governor also enumerated his plans to deliver quality healthcare services to ensure the health security of his constituents such as the continuance of the ‘Alay ni Governor Adiong Program” which covers medical, dental and optical mission.

“We will also push through with our 100% province-wide health insurance coverage for the indigents under the PhilHealth-sponsored program and we will target 200,000 memberships by 2013”, Adiong stressed.

In terms of social services, Adiong enumerated his social development agenda which includes free livelihood programs for Maranao women under the Technology and Livelihood Development Center, the early childhood care and development program for children, the monthly stipends for senior citizens under the Katas ng VAT Para Kay Lolo at Lola, the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program for indigent families, sports and development program for the youth, as well as the conduct of mobile passport issuance and renewal of licenses and Hajj assistance to pilgrims.

Moreover, Governor Adiong underscored that his long-term mission is the attainment of permanent peace in the province.

“My administration wants a community without family feuds, a community absolutely free of violence and crimes”, Adiong stressed.

Lastly, he urged his constituents to work hand-in-hand for the restoration of peace and order in the province especially in Marawi City.
