MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, March 6 (PIA) – Gunmen freed Roberto Tacbobo, delivery truck driver last Thursday afternoon whom they abducted in Masiu town on March 1.
The 50-year old Tacbobo, driver of a white ten-wheeler cargo truck and a resident of Barangay Tubod, Iligan City, was forcibly taken by them at about 12nn, last March 1, along the national highway in Barangay Sawir, Masiu town, Lanao del Sur (LDS).
The delivery truck with plate number RHF-404 is owned by Macarambon Calandada of Barangay Bliss Bubong, Saguiaran town.
Tacbobo had just delivered sacks of rice in Lumbayanague town, LDS and while traversing the highway back to Saguiaran, he was flagged down by eight unidentified armed men riding in tandem onboard four (4) single motorcycles.
Provincial Director SSupt. Rodolfo Asejo Llorca said the victim was safely released at about 4:00p.m. last March 3 in Barangay Sandab, Butig town, LDS.
The release was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Army (PA) and National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) with the help of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and the LDS Provincial Government, as well, as the local government units of Butig, Masiu, and Lumbayanague.
“We exerted all efforts and worked together in order to secure the safe release of the victim,” Llorca emphasized.
He also assured the people of LDS that the PNP and both the offices of the ARMM Regional Governor and the LDS Provincial Governor are on top of the situation in the province.
Llorca also disclosed that they are still conducting thorough investigation to identify the culprits for filing of appropriate charges in court.
On the other hand, NBI Supervising Agent Rod Bangi, said once the culprits are identified and the case is filed, the victim will be put in the witness protection program to ensure his safety.
Meanwhile, the Commanding Officer of the 103rd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army, based in Kampo Ranao here expressed unwavering support to the enforcement operations of the PNP and all government agencies so as to deter any further kidnappings in the province.
“We, in the Philippine Army, are giving our full support and we are one with you in stopping these kidnappings in the province,” Colonel Daniel Lucero said.
Furthermore, ARMM Governor Ansaruddin Alonto-Adiong lauded the unified efforts of the PNP, PA, NBI and all those who extended help for the immediate release of Tacbobo.
