MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, Mar. 9 (PIA) --- Around 65 participants from the local government units, traditional leaders and clans in Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur participated in a 2-day workshop on conflict management conducted by the Reconciliatory Initiatives for Development Opportunities (RIDO) Inc.
Aimed at enhancing the skills and capacity of the participants in conflict resolution and management, the conflict management workshop was held March 5- 6, 2011 at Crystal Inn, Barangay San Miguel, Iligan City, Abdul Hamidullah Atar, Executive Director of RIDO Inc., said.
He said the activity highlighted the resolution of family and clan conflicts using the traditional justice system and the Islamic point-of-view.
Among the topics tackled during the workshop were Introduction to Conflicts, Tools, Principles and Approaches, Inter-group Divisiveness: Context, Triggers, and Conflict Escalation and Conflict Resolution on Islamic Perspective.
The participants also shared their knowledge on Rido (family feud) settlement and their respective best practices for local conflict resolutions.
Atar said RIDO Inc. is an organization which aims to strengthen the potentials of traditional structures, mechanisms, and leaders for the prevention and resolution of family, clan, and inter-ethnic conflicts so that sustainable peace and development in the two Lanao provinces will be attained.
