MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--Following the nationwide order of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to limit the movements of unvaccinated individuals, the Provincial Inter-agency Task Force (PIATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases here has now imposed restrictions for such citizens as a new resolution has been approved Monday, January 10.
Lawyer Faisal Cali, Chief Provincial Legal Officer, cascaded in a provincial consultation and updates on COVID-19 surge response Tuesday, January 11, the signed Resolution No. 17, series of 2022, emphasizing this as a significant step for the betterment of all population amid the threat of the new Omicron variant.
“Our pursuit is to save humanity. In saving lives, you have to impose regulations and this is the purpose of this resolution - a resolution reiterating the directive of the President on the restriction of movements or acts of unvaccinated individuals and for other purposes,” he said.
According to the newly signed resolution, unvaccinated individuals are allowed movement within the province only to procure essential goods and services provided that these shall be done within the general area of their residence subject to the guidelines of the local government unit concerned.
Meanwhile, unvaccinated employees both in public and private institutions are required to undergo an RT-PCR test every two weeks at their expense as a negative result is required to be presented before admission for work.
Unvaccinated individuals are likewise prohibited from indoor and outdoor dining-in restaurants and other food establishments, doing leisure activities, domestic travel by land, sea and air via public transportation unless to purchase essential goods, and in entering the province unless a negative RT-PCR result taken at least three days before entry is presented.
With the newly approved resolution, barangay officials are directed to ensure the full cooperation of residents in their respective jurisdictions and maintain inventory of vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals while law enforcers, including the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), are called for the strict observance of the mentioned restrictions through patrolling in establishments and other areas, and proper manning of entry points of Lanao del Sur.
The PIATF further appealed for the enactment of an ordinance at the city and municipal levels to adopt the new resolution for the sustainability of the promoted protection and campaign on the COVID-19 vaccination program.
“We are urging the city government and all municipal governments to pass an ordinance in support of this restriction. Through this, we see success because according to the national government and the statistics, vaccine saves lives… We request everyone not only cooperation but think that it is only you who can save yourself and help your family,” said Cali.
