TFBM chief calls for unity to ensure Marawi rehab completion

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--The chief of the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) has called for unity to ensure completion of Marawi rehabilitation.

"I would like to call on everyone, from the local government to the peace-loving residents of Marawi City, to be one with the national government in ensuring that progress (in Marawi) will be undertaken both by the national and local government the way it should be," Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario said during the inauguration of the Pumping Bridge on Thursday, January 20.

Pumping Bridge is the last bridge on Agus River repaired by the Department of Public Works and Highways. The four-lane bridge costs P79.5 million and has a total length of 70 meters and a width of 15 meters.

Del Rosario said the government was not able to complete the repair and widening of the bridge on time due to right-of-way issues.

"And you can see that at both ends of this Pumping Bridge, we can see that we really have to exert government patience in ensuring that the buildings or infrastructures will be cleared for the best interest of Marawi City," he further said.

Pointing out that the right-of-way issue is a problem not only in Marawi City but practically in all infrastructure projects being undertaken by the government nationwide, Del Rosario hopes that it can be resolved soonest so that the people of Marawi can benefit from the improvements the government is doing.

“In any place in the world, the development in public infrastructure signifies progress and it is a good thing that we have it now in this locality,” he said.

The TFBM chief said the government is currently undertaking improvements in the city not only in terms of road network and transport facility but also on the installation of water, electricity, and telecommunications so that Marawi City will be ready to become a competitive city in as far as progress and development is concerned.
