MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--With the continuing effort to restore the war-torn city, the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) and the local government here inaugurated Thursday, January 20, another barangay complex, this time situated in Brgy. Lilod Madaya in the most affected area (MAA).
City Mayor Majul Gandamra underscored that the completion of the two-storey barangay complex equipped with three rooms madrasah and a health center is a manifestation that the direction of the rehabilitation here is suitably aligned with the timeline of the national government which is hoping to finish almost all the projects by the end of the term of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
With this, he conveyed his gratitude to the current administration for the support poured into the city.
"Despite the challenges that we are facing right now such as the pandemic, nakita natin na tuloy-tuloy ang rehabilitation ng Marawi City [we see the rehabilitation carried on in Marawi City]," said Gandamra.
The local chief executive further shared that apart from the barangay complex, the village's masjid is also eyed to be reconstructed alongside the access road.
Gandamra stated that although there is a struggle in the funding of the repair and rebuilding of mosques due to the constitutional separation of the church and the state, the national government through the TFBM is striving to draw funds for it.
Given the visible progress of the rehabilitation and more upcoming projects for the barangay and the city in general, TFBM Chairperson Eduardo Del Rosario called for cooperation from the constituents for the success of the initiated effort.
"Magtulong-tulong tayo at dire-diretso itong ating ginagawa [Let us help each other and what we are doing will continue]," he said.
The Lilod Madaya barangay complex is the sixth barangay facility completed since the onset of the rehabilitation.
Last year, the government officially opened five barangay complexes for barangays Tolali, Datu Naga, Datu sa Dansalan, West Marinaut, Moncado Kadingilan and Raya Madaya 1, respectively. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
