MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--Seeing the advancement of various projects implemented to bring back the destroyed city, the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) maintained that the rehabilitation effort is indeed nearing its target completion.

Additionally, land issues were likewise seen to have impacted the plotted timeline as the government took one to two years to settle matters with claimants.

Despite the struggles, the TFBM continues to showcase progress through the attainment of significant initiatives.

Just this month, the task force alongside the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the local government led the inauguration of the P79.5 million-worth pumping bridge that is 70 meters long, 15 meters wide consisting of four lanes.

Further, Brgy. On the other hand, the new sanitary landfill was also inspected. This facility can last for 25 to 40 years depending on the waste volume, can cater to the waste concerns of the city and even of the nearby municipalities, and is expected to operate in the last week of April according to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

City Mayor Majul Gandamra also stated that per the recent record of the Office of the Building Official, there are already more than 800 approved building permits which positively indicates the beginning of reconstruction and repair of damaged properties inside the MAA.

With the recent accomplishments, the TFBM assures that the rehabilitation is accordingly aligned with the plan.

“I can see na [that] all implementing agencies are doing their part and with the updates given to me, everything is going smooth… Everything is moving forward and we are optimistic that we can reach our target by June 30,” Del Rosario reiterated. (CRG/PIA-Lanao del Sur)
