MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--Some 210 workers from the informal sector in the municipality of Wao, this province, received cash aid worth P2,750 each from the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) under its Cash-for-Work (CFW) Program.

The recipients were Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) household beneficiaries, solo parents, out-of-school youth (OSY), indigent students, and Ustadzes who were residents of barangays Manila Group, Amoyong, Kabatangan, Banga, Panang, and Buot.

The CFW program is one of the social interventions of MSSD to improve the welfare of displaced, disadvantaged, and distressed individuals of the community. The program applies a development approach through the provision of short-term employment.

Under this, recipients are provided with financial aid to meet their requirements for food and other basic necessities in exchange for the work they rendered.

Buhary Macapanton, MSSD Wao Municipal Social Welfare Officer, said community works assigned to the beneficiaries were communal gardening, awareness-raising, and information drive, road clearing, soil piling, beautification of the surroundings, as well as cleaning of roads and barangay facilities.
