AMAI MANABILANG, Lanao del Sur (PIA) -- Southern Philippines Development Authority (SPDA) administrator and chief executive officer Abdulghani 'Gerry' Ajul Salapuddin assured the residents in the area that they will not be displaced with the implementation of the Agro-Industrial Development Program.
Salapuddin expressed this statement during a press conference saying that one of the challenges they faced was the resistance of some residents against the program who thought they would be displaced.
“The second challenge is the resistance of the local population. They thought that it would dislocate them so we told them, we will not dislocate you. In fact, part of our plan is to involve the local community,” he said.
The SPDA chief said that residents will be relocated to parts of the land which are more suitable for them to cultivate. Meanwhile, the flat areas where the tractors and equipment (of the Asia Pacific Agriculture Group should be used for the program.
“We do not dislocate you. We relocate you to where it is more suitable for small farming,” he added.
Salapuddin also said that they plan to give them the tractors that will be given by the Department of Agriculture. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Sur)
