MARAWI CITY (PIA)--The Lanao del Sur Office of the Ministry of Local Government (MILG) emphasized the crucial role of barangay officials in winning the war against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
MILG Provincial Director Mcmillan Lucman said the barangay is the implementing arm of the municipalities and cities and serves as the frontline force in the implementation of ordinances crafted by the municipal, city, and provincial governments.
He further said that the implementation of health protocols and the national vaccination program can only be successful through the full support and help of village officials including the Barangay Kagawads and Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs).
“Nakita natin how our security partners such as the PNP and the Army na tumutulong sa atin but hindi nila kayang gampanan ang lahat o e-stretch ang kanilang mga tao sa lahat ng sulok ng munisipyo o sa lahat ng mga barangays,” Lucman pointed-out.
[We have seen how our security partners such as the PNP and the Army are helping us but they are cannot handle everything or stretch their people to all corners of the municipality or to all barangays.]
With this, the MILG director urged local chief executives to exercise their supervisory functions over the barangay units.
He said the MILG can file a case against erring barangay officials, but the complaint should emanate from the local chief executives. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
