Ambassador of the European Union to the Philippines Luc Véron says that they prioritized supporting children affected by conflict.

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--Quality education and child protection here are seen to be improved through the Project SiNDAO: Protecting Learning in Conflict and Complex Emergencies in Mindanao funded by the European Union Humanitarian Aid or ECHO.

The two-year project aims to contribute to improving the access to quality and protective education and children protection services of the most marginalized and vulnerable boys and girls affected by conflict, displacement, and pandemic crisis in Mindanao.

Ambassador of the European Union to the Philippines Luc Véron said that they prioritized supporting children affected by conflict.

"The priority is to support children affected by conflict in schools by providing access to safe quality and protective education both in formal and informal schools," he said.

The ambassador also emphasized that keeping children in school will give them a better future.

With Project SiNDAO, uninterrupted quality learning and protective opportunities will be provided for conflict-affected children through resilient education systems and school communities that are protective of children’s rights and the international human rights and humanitarian law.

The interventions under this project are Education in Emergencies, Child Protection, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarian Response.

This program benefits 28 municipalities and cities in 10 provinces in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Regions 10, 12, and 13 and implemented by Save the Children Philippines, CARE/ACCORD and Geneva Call. (LELA/ PIA Lanao del Sur)
