MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur  -- Mindanao State University (MSU) - College of Information and Computing Science (CICS) dean Maimona Asum is optimistic that the Islamic City will be transformed from a war-torn city to a smart city.

According to her, the siege has affected so many business establishments. However, with start-ups, the younger generations can craft ideas that will help their community.

“With their ideas, and innovations, in the long run, makikita natin na eventually magproprosper iyong what has been called a war-torn city into a very smart city. I am hopeful of that,” she said.

She said the younger generations with innovative ideas can help the community in coming up with good ideas and good economic ventures.

She shared that MSU has been training its students to identify problems and recommend solutions in addressing them. She also urged the students to think of more ideas to innovate.

Recently, MSU and the Department of Information and Communications Technology - Mindanao Cluster 3 (DICT MC3) held a Start-up 101 workshop to encourage students and professionals to establish a strong Start-up Ecosystem in their communities. (LELA/PIA Lanao del Sur)
