MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The 103rd Infantry Brigade stationed here in the city aided a polling center that had encountered struggles that resulted in the delay in casting votes.
Sultan Conding Elementary School (SCES) in the city faced challenges in terms of the technical flow and process of their polls.
The polling place was discovered with a concern involving finished voters without indelible ink on their fingers upon exiting the polling precinct.
Soldiers on standby at the exit gate of the polling center were seen dropping the ink on the voters' nails.
As such, the brigade especially visited the place to strongly remind the Electoral Boards (EBs) to carry out their mandate properly so as not to be instruments of chaos.
Further, Assistant School Principal Shalinee Ditucalan detailed that their marking pens, although already tied to the chairs, were still getting lost.
As such, they had to find additional marking pens before they would allow voters to start voting.
Ditucalan also said that some of the Vote Counting Machines (VCMs) established in particular polling precincts suffered technical issues as fed ballots were jammed.
Accordingly, this problem led to the slow progress of voting and made the EB members initiate the feeding of ballots themselves to ensure that it was done properly and avoid paper jam.
Ditucalan stressed that this was conducted with the consent of the voter and the watchers from the candidates' parties who were present at the moment.
Despite the issues and concerns met during the duration of the polls, the brigade still assessed the elections in the city as peaceful in general with no major incidents happening today. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
