MSU steps in COVID vax drive: ‘Get jabbed for public safety’

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--As the vaccination drive against the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19 here, in Lanao del Sur province and the Bangsamoro region, in general, is intensified, the Mindanao State University (MSU) - Main Campus has got itself more involved in the campaign to raise awareness, especially to its constituents to heed to the call of getting inoculated.

MSU Executive Vice President Dr. Rashid Paca said the COVID-19 vaccines are beneficial as he had firsthand experiences of the positive effects after he was vaccinated, and he was certain that others can relate also to this.

With this, he firmly urged the citizenry to get their shots for the general welfare.

“I am encouraging you for our public safety. Let us go and voluntarily submit ourselves for vaccination because this is for the good of all of us. Not for you alone but lahat tayo [all of us] because knowing the transmissibility of the COVID-19, the only option for us is to be vaccinated,” said Paca.

The executive vice president recalled that during the onset of the health crisis, he was hesitant in believing the existence of the virus and the effectiveness of the vaccines but this has changed later on and he just accordingly found himself getting immunized.

Meanwhile, MSU Director of Presidential Management Staff Lawyer Mabandes Diron Jr. emphasized that when the pandemic hit all countries across the globe, the education sector was drastically impacted giving no exemption to his university.

As such, the university conveyed its backing for the implementation of policies to heighten the vaccination drive in the city and Lanao del Sur province.

“The crisis and the response to it has exposed weaknesses in educational systems while creating opportunities to reshape school education to a new paradigm that is more resilient and robust… Thus, the Mindanao State University warmly welcomes and supports the program of the Ministry of Health through its provincial office, the IPHO and all other stakeholders,” said Diron.
