TUBARAN, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--Some particular barangays in the municipality of Tubaran were accordingly announced to have "failure of elections."
103rd Infantry Brigade Commanding Officer BGen. Jose Maria Cuerpo II bared that in an initial report, such a declaration was due to discussions between specific candidates and the present election officer concerning the matter of how the elections should supposedly take place in their voting area.
The action has accordingly resulted in a misunderstanding and voters were not able to cast their votes in the affected polling centers.
Cuerpo and his brigade are yet to verify the exact number of barangays and more updates about it.
Lanao del Sur Provincial Election Supervisor Lawyer Joyce Moran confirmed Cuerpo's statement but she said the Commission will still conduct further verification for more details.
Earlier, Tubaran town had been declared one of the four areas in Lanao del Sur province placed under the control Commission on Elections (COMELEC) alongside Marawi City and the municipalities of Maguing and Malabang.
The locality has tallied 10,667registered voters. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
