Marawi EBs bare preparedness for 2022 NLE duties

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur --Electoral Boards (EBs) in the city are now all set to uphold their mandate in this year’s national and local elections (NLE).

Some 450 teachers under the City Schools Division here shall form part of EBs to be deployed in 33 polling centers with 150 polling precincts.

EB chairwoman Hanifah Pandapatan Ampuan from Marawi Central Elementary Pilot School said after equipping herself, she is prepared to be on service during the elections.

She said that she participated in this major event believing that no one else can serve for her spot other than her.

Ampuan stated that they shall carry out an important role on May 9 as they shall be safely handling the votes the citizens will cast.

As head of one of the boards, she urged the voters to be early and that they should exercise their right to suffrage with the assurance of safe elections.

“After attending a series of training, pwede na. Handang handa na [kami] sa elections this coming May 9… Sa mga botante, come early because ang rule ay ‘first come, first served’. Kung sino ang mauna sa precinct, iyon ang iaaccommodate ng EBs. As long as wala silang gagawing labag sa rules ng election, nasa mabuti silang kamay. Nandiyan ang AFP at PNP para masecure ang area kaya wala silang dapat ikabahala,” said Ampuan.

[After attending a series of training, we already can. We are very ready for the elections this coming May 9… To the voters, come early because the rule is ‘first come, first served’. The EBs will accommodate whoever will arrive first in the precinct. As long as they will not do anything violative of the rules of the election, they are in good hands. The AFP and the PNP are there to secure the area so they do not have to worry.]

Meanwhile, EB Member Sanaoray Macud from Mapandi Elementary School conveyed how ready she is for the upcoming elections together with her fellow EB members.

She shared that she chose to be involved in the elections this year as she decided to continue living out the responsibility of a teacher during elections.

Setting energy for the approaching NLE, Macud encouraged her co-members to continue their duties and never back down while inculcating in their minds to be fair and neutral.

“Handang handa na kami, hindi lang ako kung hindi maging ang mga kasamahan ko. Hindi ako natatakot kasi buong buo ang puso ko na [itataguyod] ko iyong trabaho ko. Importante wala kang kakampihan… [Sa EBs], huwag kayong matakot. Importante nasa batas ang paninindigan natin,” she said.

[We are very ready, not just me but also my colleagues. I will never be afraid because I will wholeheartedly hold up my duties. What is important is that I am siding with nobody… [To the EBs], do not be afraid. What is important is we only stand with the law.] (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
