COMELEC-Marawi projects high voter turnout on May 9 polls

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)--The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) here expects to have a high turnout of voters on May 9 national and local elections.

The Commission has earlier posted that the city logged 79,244 registered voters.

City Election Officer Lawyer Norfaisa Paglala-Manduyog saw that a significant percentage of the voters will visit the polling precincts on the day of elections with the voice of the public already echoing at the moment.

“Sa tingin ko malaki ang turnout natin ngayon kasi very active ang ating mga botante ngayon to voice out kung sino ang gusto nila na ilagay sa position,” she said.

[I think there will be a high turnout now because our voters are currently active in voicing out who they want to put in the position.]

Manduyog said it is just right for the citizenry to cast their votes on the conducted national and local polls as each one holds the right to suffrage.

She urged the voting populace to exercise their power to elect with the guarantee that the process will be secured alongside their participation.

“On election day, lumabas sila to express their will to vote kasi we assure them naman na with our security sector, our AFP at PNP, na magiging smooth naman ang election day basta magcooperate lang ang lahat sa gagawin ngayong election day,” said Manduyog.

[On election day, they must go out to express their will to vote because we assure them that with our security sector, our AFP and PNP, the election day will be smooth so long as they cooperate with all the activities on the election day.]

She emphasized that the very goal of the Commission together with the Department of Education, AFP at PNP is to conduct a safe, secured, accurate, and fair election. (CRG/PIA-10/Lanao del Sur)
