MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur --Re-electionist City Mayor Majul Gandamra was proclaimed by the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday, May 11, as the winner of the mayoral race here.
Gandamra garnered 37,076 of the total votes cast in 150 precincts. He was proclaimed together with his running mate vice mayor Abdulrauf Anouar who got 31,865 votes.
Candidates who won seats in the city council include Princess Pala Gandamra (33,258 votes), Edmund Capal (31,212 votes), Sajid Munder (30,727), Lailyn Dimal (29,682), Nasrollah "Pepe" Basman (28,594), Honeylove Macabangon (27,612), Nasif Marangit (27,329), Borgie Dalidig (27, 067), Abdani Alonto (25,673), and Abdulrahim Lao (25,164).
Of the proclaimed councilors, only Capal and Munder are independent candidates while the rest are all under the party Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan.
Gandamra thanked his family, relatives, and supporters for giving him another opportunity to lead the city again. He vowed to work harder in serving the people of Marawi.
He also asked for their continuous support as he faces bigger challenges with his fresh mandate. "Let us help in totally rehabilitating Marawi," he added. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
