MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) is inviting talented Bangsamoro youth to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses in college and avail of the Bangsamoro Assistance for Science Education (BASE) program.
Under the program, each eligible scholar will be granted a monthly cash allowance of P8,000.
The assistance is open to incoming first-year college students who intend to pursue STEM strand courses for the school year 2022-2023. Those in the non-STEM strand may also apply, provided they belong to the top 5 of the graduating class.
Applicants should pass the general qualification that includes being a natural-born Filipino citizen and a resident of BARMM for at least six (6) months; a general average of 85 percent; good moral character; and good health.
Applicants should not also be recipients of other scholarship programs, do not have any post-secondary or undergraduate units, pass the BASE program examination, and pursue a bachelor of science degree in any state university, college, or private higher education institution recognized by the Commission on Higher Education.
Less-privileged but deserving students who belong to a family whose annual income does not exceed P250,000 are also qualified for the scholarship program.
Interested applicants may apply online through https://bit.ly/E-BASE. However, the original documents must be submitted/mailed to MOST Regional or Provincial Offices. The application form can be downloaded through https://bit.ly/BASEForm2022.
The deadline for submission is on June 3, 2022, while the qualifying exam will be on June 20-24, 2022.
The evaluation result on the application for either manual and online application or the list of qualifiers who can take the qualifying examination will be posted on the MOST FB Page and website.
Now on its third batch, BASE aims to stimulate and entice Bangsamoro youth to pursue lifetime productive careers in science and technology and ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified S&T human resources, steering the country towards national progress. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
