MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur--The city government of Marawi through the City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Marawi City Schools Division, Philippine Business for Social Progress, and Task Force Bangon Marawi and its humanitarian partners facilitated the 1st Job Fair for Senior High School graduates in the city.
The Job Fair, held at the Marawi City Hall Covered Court Monday, March 28, highlighted the second day of the Kawiyagan, an event where the government, civil society and international relief organizations come together to help uplift the lives of residents in the once war-stricken area.
"Noong nakaconcentrate tayo dun sa mga nakapagtapos [college] graduates na nangangailangan ng trabaho sa gobyerno o sa private sector, ngayon yung binibigyan naman natin ng importansya yung mga senior high school completers na gustong magtrabaho," said City PESO manager Cabsaran Pacasum Jr.
[Before we concentrated on [college] graduates who need jobs in the government or the private sector, now we give importance to senior high school completers who want to work.]
Sobaida Diron-Ampuan, assistant city schools division superintendent for senior high school, said around 50 completers from Marawi City National High School (NHS), Lake Lanao NHS, and Angoyao NHS will benefit from the job fair.
"We are very grateful to our partners for giving our learners the opportunity to find jobs to earn their money for their living. We are very grateful to PBSP, the traders and businesses who will give jobs to our completers," she said.
Among the establishments that offered job opportunities are Ragayan Cafe, Creme Top, Haven Cafe, Curly Frost, Torogan Cafe, and Soti Fuel.
According to Ampuan, the job fair will be an avenue to inspire the senior high schools and motivate them to have a better perspective on life with good opportunities coming their way. (APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
